Chapter 6

I was up early this morning. The cat was hungry and she simply refused to allow me to sleep until she got some sort of diced meat and gravy. By the time her stomach was being filled I was wide awake and decided to stay up. Not long after tossing on jeans and a tshirt I was out the door for some errands.

At one point I found myself in Barnes & Noble. It had been a long while since I had been in a bookstore chain. First stop was naturally Starbucks in the store. I am rolling my eyes just thinking it. Starbucks employees always hate me I think because I never use their sizing. Want to throw them a curveball? Ask for an extra medium dark roast. With a coffee in hand I started wandering the aisles. In the back corner a child started crying and screaming.

I browsed. Flipping through some science fiction and looking for some hardcovers the echoes of the crying continued and a slight throbbing around my temples started. Moving on to mystery brought me closer to said child. My eyes began to hurt. The exit sign at the other end of the store began calling me.

The smell of the pages and covers was refreshing, but I was reminded of how much I enjoy quietly reading. How libraries are a little slice of heaven.

Walking away from the store though I began thinking. It has been a long while since I last put “pen to paper” for some creative writing. Now though it is time to start a new. Having written two unsold screenplays, I know I can at least form some semblance of a story. A novel will be my new venue though. Already a partial idea forming in the back of my brain.

Arriving home I booted up the laptop. As I began to tap at the key I noticed a sever wobble, much like a table with one leg shorter than the rest. Flipping the laptop over I see my battery has decided to explode/expand. Thanks Apple.
